Convenience Stores are Liable for Mitigating the Effects of Car Crashes

I never knew that in the US the retailer is liable for mitigating the effects of the crash (installing defensive parking measures). Much less common in the UK, even allowing for the fact that quite a lot of convenience is linked to fueling stations (although the parking angles/approaches tend to be parallel to store front or in a direction away from the building)
