I wonder if palm payment will succeed any more than fingerprint payment ("Pay by touch–piloted in a CoOp convenience store in the UK, amongst other places) didn’t about a decade ago

Maybe with Amazon money behind it.

I think Amazon One will be helpful in specific use cases like restaurants, breweries, and retailers. Does this mean it will be adopted widely - I am not sure currently.
