Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF), Amazon Supply Chain’s third-party logistics (3PL) solution offering fast, reliable order fulfillment for your off-Amazon sales channels. Amazon has just announced that they are now shipping orders in unbranded packaging* at no additional cost to merchants.
Oh how nice of them!
Seriously though, Amazon is coming to the broader fulfillment business in a big way. Lot of trust issues to resolve, they may not be resolvable.
I love it personally. It’s not the original use case for this but selfishly I see this as a step towards making dropship among more small suppliers (that store inventory with Amazon) reliable for retailers that employ this model.
The biggest thing holding back dropship relationships is the trust of delivering the package on time, unbranded, backed with the proper technology and data integrity to trust the transaction… if Amazon solves this for suppliers, this would could open up the flood gates for the dropship fulfillment model.
Thanks for being here @travis_flxpoint! I couldn’t agree more with these sentiments.
The key to dropship is not connections, it’s actually compliance.
This is a head-scratcher for me.
Right now Amazon is dramatically reducing PO’s for Vendors, and reducing inventory limits for 3P sellers. Ostensibly this is due to limited storage space at warehouses.
At the same time, they are adding features to MCF trying to make it more attractive for brands to use Amazon’s logistics space.
