Logistics is hard for both e-commerce and retailers and in low margin sectors its even tougher.
The last mile is the most expensive part of the supply chain journey. Why did Aldi ever need a wine delivery service in the first place?

Aldi UK’s selection of wines always has some stars at great prices (against strong competition), and delivering wine (using a normal parcel delivery service-2-3 days or next day) is well established in the UK as a model (parcel needs to be signed for, but no other restrictions).
So you can see the obvious attraction to offer it via ecommerce shipped from a warehouse. It wasn’t ever a same day offer from a local store.
